Emmanuel Macron’s entourage thinks they know who is behind the revelations and evokes “revenge”!

In politics, many know, all shots are allowed. And even more at the dawn of a presidential election. Many candidates have taken the full brunt of a “case” which has come to torpedo their Elysian ambitions. The most recent scandal is of course the “Penelopegate” which precipitated the downfall of François Fillon, also mired in a dark story of slightly overpriced suits. In short, everyone has understood it, it is wise, shortly before the election deadline to watch where you are stepping. In certain springs, banana peels abound on the road to the presidential candidates.

And this time it is perhaps the President of the Republic himself who is tripping over the carpet. Since a senatorial investigation revealed that the executive has multiplied contracts with private consulting groups during the five-year term, the controversy has swelled. In this report, the senators estimate that the use of these private structures by the government, at the expense of the public administration, cost the State 900 million euros last year. With less than ten days to go before the first round, the repercussions of this investigation on the use of consulting firms take Macronie by surprise. Manuel Bompard, Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s campaign manager, speaks of a “state affair”, when Marine Le Pen denounces “a real scandal” in 20 Minutes. Yannick Jadot evokes, him, “the interference of the lobbies with which and for which Emmanuel Macron governed for five years”.

Between improvised press conference, annoyed outings and vituperating opposition, the affair is tarnishing the last straight line of the candidate president. And in the entourage of Emmanuel Macron, we seek to understand and especially to know who has carried out this investigation. In Le Parisien, François Patriat, senator LREM, is convinced: it is a set up! “What do we blame Macron for? What has he done more than Hollande and Sarkozy? It’s revenge for the Senate and Larcher,” he says.
