More than a month after the closure of the vaccination center at the Palais des Congrès, it will be the Olympic Stadium’s turn to stop administering doses against COVID-19, starting April 7. The authorities promise a “new offer of vaccination” local in the East.

“After more than a year of activities, we are proud to mention that the vaccination teams at the Olympic Stadium will have administered more than 1,040,232 doses of vaccine against COVID-19,” indicated the CIUSSS de l’Est- de-l’Île-de-Montréal in a press release on Friday afternoon, confirming the news.
As of next Thursday, citizens wishing to be vaccinated will now have to go “to the various CLSCs” in the territory. Eight local community service centers are already designated as local vaccination points, “with or without an appointment”. Appointments made after April 7 at the Olympic Stadium will be redirected to these locations.
These are the Olivier-Guimond, Rosemont, Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Saint-Léonard, Saint-Michel, Rivière-des-Prairies, Mercier-Est and Est-de-Montréal CLSCs. An appointment can be made now on the Clic Santé platform, or by phone, by dialing 1 877-644-4545
“It is certain that there was a drop in traffic which no longer justified having such a large installation, but it is also and above all to get closer to people in the various neighborhoods”, affirms the door- word of the CIUSSS, Valérie Lafleur, speaking of a “new local vaccination strategy” that is being implemented throughout Quebec.
His group also recalls that vaccination against COVID-19 “remains the best way to protect against the disease and its variants such as the BA.2 variant”, and this for “all people aged 5 and over, little regardless of immigration status.
In Quebec, the vaccination campaign seems to be gaining momentum in recent days. On Thursday, nearly 20,900 additional doses were administered, mostly third doses. So far, including those vaccinated outside the province, the province has administered nearly 19 million doses since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last February, faced with a marked drop in the number of doses being administered there, the vaccination center at the Palais des congrès de Montréal also announced the permanent closure of its doors in a week. The center has not been in operation since February 24.
