Twenty departments are placed in vigilance orange snow and ice, Friday, April 1, by Météo France. Vigilance has been lifted in the Somme, Pas-de-Calais and the North. The departments still on alert are: Tarn, Ain, Allier, Ariège, Aveyron, Cantal, Corrèze, Haute-Garonne, Isère, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Hautes-Pyrénées , Haute-Vienne, Calvados, Orne, Seine-Maritime, Eure, Loire, Haute-Loire, Creuse and Puy-de-Dôme.
This snowy episode ist “notable for this time of year”, according to Meteo France. The bad weather should take place mainly this Friday in Hauts-de-France and Normandy on the one hand, and on the other hand this Friday and Saturday April 2 in the Massif Central, the Pyrenees and the Alps.
However, it is not exceptional to see snow in April, recall forecasters from Météo France. In 2008 a light layer of snow covered Paris in early April, as well as the north of the country. In 2013 and 2018, snow hit Normandy.
