COVID-19: more than 2,500 health workers absent in one week

Some 2,514 health care workers were absent from March 24 to 31 due to COVID-19, bringing the total number of absences to 10,843 in the already badly shaken network.

The Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS) indicates that the number of workers infected with COVID-19 in a personal context has increased from 3,523 to 5,024 in one week.

The number of employees placed in isolation rose in one week from 917 to 1,202, while three additional screening refusals were counted out of a total of 323 as of March 31.

COVID absences linked to the Commission for Standards, Equity, Health and Safety at Work (CNESST) reached 1,241 on Thursday, compared to 936 a week earlier.

In addition, seven immunosuppressed cases were added in one week to bring it to 463, while only one worker was subject to preventive withdrawal for a total of 1,330 on Thursday.

In addition, the number of employees awaiting screening results has increased from 848 to 1,260, according to the count of the MSSS, while Quebec is facing a sixth wave of COVID-19.
