Renaud will release a new album on May 6, just before celebrating his 70th birthday. A first song has been unveiled, the cover of “If you pay me a drink” by Serge Reggiani.

The clip is disarmingly simple: Renaud is seated at a cafe table with his friend Jean-Paul Rouve. The singer takes up a title full of nostalgia by Serge Reggiani. This first song, “If you pay me a drink”, is already available. Renaud’s return is rather well received by the public. “I’m happy for him, he already [aille] good. If he comes back, he’s fine”, confides a woman. However, the singer will no longer tour.

Like the phoenix rising from its ashes, Renaud has multiplied great comebacks for 20 years… With each time, a voice on the wire, which seems ready to break at any moment. “His trademark was to sing like a cheeky. So he never bet on his vocal power. On the other hand, his drawling tone, he’s always there, and that’s what we like”, comments Jean-Pierre Pasqualini, director of programs at Melody TV. Besides Serge Reggiani, Renaud will cover 12 other songs in his new album.
