Quebec counts 12 new deaths linked to COVID-19 and 38 more hospitalizations

Quebec reports Thursday 12 new deaths caused by COVID-19, in addition to a new increase in hospitalizations.

There are now 1238 people hospitalized, an increase of 38 compared to the previous day. Sixty-six patients are in intensive care, up from six.

The Ministry of Health reports 3319 new cases. However, this number is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to certain priority groups.

Since the start of the pandemic, 967,769 infections have been officially reported, and 14,365 of them have proven fatal.

A total of 137,630 rapid tests have been self-reported so far on the platform put online by the government, including 109,947 positive. For Wednesday, 1,881 tests were reported, including 1,601 positive.

The Ministry of Health indicates that 19,051 analyzes were carried out on Wednesday and that the positivity rate is 18.4%.

As for vaccination, 17,145 doses have been administered in the last 24 hours in Quebec.

Among those aged 5 and over, 91% received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 87% received at least two doses and 53% received a third dose.
