In Mayenne, a solidarity kitty to fill up with gas and pick up Ukrainian refugees

This week, two minibuses will leave Fougerolles-du-Plessis in Nord-Mayenne to reach Leipzig in Germany and recover twelve Ukrainian refugees. “People were kind enough to lend the vehicles and several volunteers offered to do the road, it’s a tremendous boost of solidarity“, emphasizes Astrid Lecomte, a Laval volunteer with Mayenne4Ukraine.

But the difficulty we encounter is the price of gasoline“, she adds.”We may be volunteers, give our time or our money, in terms of filling up with gas for two large vehicles, round trip, it will still represent a fairly large amount.

That’s why Mayenne4Ukraine has launched an online kitty. “It’s really important for everyone to get involved, because tomorrow it could also happen to us too and I’m sure you’d all be delighted to be welcomed if something happened in our country.“The link for the kitty is here. More than 5,000 euros have already been raised.
