The Basque Country celebrates its PDOs

Sunday, April 3 in Itxassou, at the Atharri room, the Basque Country celebrates its AOP to celebrate the good products of our region. Come and discover the products that make the wealth of the Basque Country, Ossau-Iraty cheese of course, but also the wines of the Syndicat des Vins d’Irouléguy, Espelette AOP pepper, and fresh meat and Kintoa ham.
You will thus be able to meet those who hide behind the long process that brings the PDOs to your plate!

The program of the PDO festival

At 10:30 a.m. Françis Poineau as representative of the Ossau-Iraty sector to discuss the impact of PDOs from the Basque Country on the territory. The debate promises very interesting exchanges on the themes of quality, eating well and transmission.

Throughout the day you will be able to find ewes of the three breeds recognized in AOP Ossau-Iraty: the Manech Tête Noire, the Manech Tête Rousse and the Basco-Béarnaise.

At 3:30 p.m., don’t miss the making of cheese in a cauldron by our Ossau-Iraty producers. A privileged moment to admire our ancestral know-how.
