Toulouse closes more than half of its “covid terraces” but does not decide for those in the hypercentre

It was scheduled for March 31. Toulouse will close a large part of its “terraces covid“Thursday evening. 248 terrace extensions out of the 423 exceptionally authorized during the health crisis will be removed on April 1, as provided for in the decree which was issued. “Consultation work has been carried out with residents, associations and representatives of catering professionals to take into account the issues of safety, accessibility, traffic, parking and also nuisances”specifies the town hall which has not yet decided the fate of those in the hypercentre which crystallize certain tensions.

The extensions of terraces authorized on eight of the ten emblematic squares of the pink city during the health crisis they will be decided at the end of April. These are, for example, the Capitol or the Place Saint-Georges. The town hall has decided to give itself a little more time. As for the extensions of terraces which have been granted in sectors currently under construction, they will be discussed again according to the redevelopment project of their district.

Some 450 merchants, café owners, bistro owners and restaurateurs are concerned. They have expressed their impatience in recent days. Residents’ associations too. The covid terraces are added to the thousand terraces that Toulouse already had before the pandemic.
