It was a match not to be missed in the fight for maintenance and the Septors have negotiated it perfectly. In a tough match against Dunkirk this Saturday, the men of Fabien Courtial won 28-27, after a 21st day of Liqui Moly Star League breathless at the Jacques Mazzuca hall. The confrontation turned at the very end of the match on an arbitration decision in favor of the Saranais. While Dunkirk thought of equalizing in the last seconds, Steve Marie-Joseph finally had one foot in the zone when shooting. Something to relieve everyone.
If the match started badly for the Loiretans, with a score of 1-5 after five minutes of play, the Septors got their ideas back in place thanks in particular to two of the five goals of Jordi Deumal. Before Vasko Sevaljevic not be directly excluded (14 ‘) for a throw from seven meters which ended in the face of the opposing goalkeeper, Samir Bellahcene, author of a very good match (12 shots stopped out of 32, or 38% saves)
The Septors always 14th
Tied (16-16) at half-time, it was Saran Loiret Handball who took the lead in the second period, even leading by three goals about ten minutes from the end of the match. The Northerners still managed to pick up, but this time the coin fell on the right side. Septors can still regret not being able to kill the match sooner despite several opportunities.
In the ranking, the Saranese remain 14th with 10 dots. They come back to four lengths from their evening opponents and count now two points ahead of Istres first relegation, defeated against Toulouse this Saturday but who still have two games late to play. On the next day of the championship, next Saturday, April 2, Saran will travel to Toulouse, fifth.
The reactions
Quentin Eymann, Septors de Saran right-back
“Inevitably it does good, it’s a lot of matches where we can and in the end we don’t take the points. There are things to review but the essential is there. The maintenance will surely be played with Istres, we will play there, so we really had to take this match! We have a small mattress in Istres, even if it is really small it is better to have it“
Fabien Courtial, coach of Septors de Saran
“It’s not the perfect scenario, because we played tightly in the second half. We said to ourselves after Créteil that losing in money-time was hard and that’s ideal for us, because it was a complicated match that we won hard. Morally, it’s very very very good for a group to win in pain over nothing like that, really.“
