DMajor malfunctions took place in certain nursing homes of the private group Orpea, according to an administrative investigation unveiled on Saturday March 26. The state therefore decided to take legal action.

He has been waiting for answers from the state since the death of his father at 93. Placed in a high-end Orpea nursing home, Marcel had been found in a pool of blood, abused by another resident. He had died a few months later. “He did not eat his fill, he was not washed. We who had entrusted our father to a so-called benevolent institution, we were abused”, says Lionel Sajovic. Like him, hundreds of families were waiting for the report requested by the government on the Orpea group.

The conclusions of this inspection point to the nutritional deficiency of residents, overcrowded nursing homes, irregular use of public funds and back margins made thanks to subsidies. The State undertook, on Saturday March 26, to request the restitution of these endowments. A complaint for embezzlement of public funds has been filed by the State. But for Lionel Sajovic, these financial sanctions are insufficient. For the memory of his father, he decided to file a complaint. Orpea has still not reacted to the publication of this report.
