Felletin station gets a facelift after thirty-three years of sleep

Day of celebration this Saturday afternoon in Felletin. After thirty-three years of sleep and three years of work, the station is coming back to life. This emblematic place will be officially inaugurated. It becomes a “third place”, that is to say a place where we can discuss, have a coffee, sometimes even have lunch in the canteen. Everything was born from the initiative of the Pang association, resulting from the other Michelines associations, from Quartier Rouge and from Radio Vassivière, which coordinates the project.

Big changes, especially inside

The railway stop is completely transformed. So when you look at it from the outside, it’s not obvious. But we must not trust appearances, explains Nadège Sellier, of the Pang association. “It’s the same station, but more refreshed on the outside, and then inside, on the other hand, there are a lot of changes.” The association redid all the electricity, but wanted to keep traces of the old station: “the old paintings, the old stairs, the SNCF counter too, the counter has remained.”

A circulation space

The association wanted this railway stop to once again become a “Circulation space, exchanges, a bit like its first function as a station, people will be able to talk together, learn things. The station becomes something offbeat and a little different”, says Nadège Sellier, very happy that the station is coming back to life as a heritage building.

For the inauguration, meet at 3 p.m. first at Place Courtaud, in the center of Felletin, then there will be a stroll to the old station in an atmosphere “ribbons, music and cotillion”. After the inauguration, the station will be closed on Mondays, open on weekends during events. The Pang association is considering opening hours for the rest of the week, but there will be the possibility of eating in the newly created canteen on Tuesday and Wednesday.

On the financing side, each association that will set up in the premises located on the first floor will pay rent, including Pang. The receipts from meals in the canteen will also be paid into the common fund.
