ECB: $11.14 million for the big boss

The five highest paid executives at BCE shared a prize pool of $28.8 million last year. For his part, the big boss Mirko Bibic pocketed a check for $11.14 million, up 17.5%.

In recent weeks, BCE has unveiled its circular in anticipation of its annual meeting of shareholders which will take place on May 5.

For the five senior executives, salaries with bonuses and benefits represent a jump of nearly 14% compared to a year earlier when $25.3 million had been paid to these executives.

High paying stocks

In addition to his base compensation of $1.3 million, the president and chief executive officer of BCE and Bell Canada, Mr. Bibic, received a bonus of $3.19 million. He was also entitled to share-based awards ($6 million) and an amount of $436,605 for his pension plan.

The number one telecom company also received $218,183, including $120,000 in “perquisite benefits” allowance.

Other top-earning executives in second and third place include Bell Media president and senior vice president at Bell Canada and BCE, Wade Oosterman, and customer experience group president, John Watson.

In 2021, Mr. Oosterman pocketed an aggregate salary of $4.91 million, including $1.2 million in bonuses for hitting performance targets. He had received $4.55 million the previous year.

As for Mr. Watson, he received $4.58 million. This is a 9.2% increase from his harvest in 2020.

In 2021, BCE recorded profit growth of 7.2% to reach $2.89 billion. Operating income amounted to $23.45 billion, an increase of 2.5%.
