NATO equips its forces against a possible nuclear, chemical or biological attack

NATO will provide Ukraine with protective equipment against “chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats”said Thursday, March 24, the secretary of the Alliance, the Norwegian Jens Stoltenberg. Following an extraordinary summit of NATO leaders in Brussels (Belgium), he declared that the Allies have decided “to provide equipment to help Ukraine protect itself against (these) threats”, saying “concerned” by the possibility of the use of such weapons in Ukraine after the invasion of the Russian army. NATO will also protect its forces deployed on the eastern flank against these threats, he added.

After Volodymyr Zelensky once again called on NATO for help, Jens Stoltenberg gave an update on the support measures provided to Ukraine. “NATO leaders today agreed on the need to provide further support to Ukraine,” he said, adding that 40,000 NATO soldiers were deployed on the eastern flank of Europe. “Leaders approved the establishment of four new NATO battlegroups in Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia”he confirmed. Groups coming “to be added to the four battlegroups already present in the Baltic countries and in Poland.”

“The allies provide considerable aid, lethal weapons, anti-aircraft and anti-tank systems”, said Jens Stoltenberg, without giving further details, in order to preserve the operations.
