Switzerland | A family falls from a building, four dead and one seriously injured

(Montreux) Three adults and a child were killed, and a teenager was seriously injured, after falling from a seven-storey residential building in the city of Montreux on Thursday, Swiss police said.

The authorities specify that the victims are all French citizens who are members of the same family. Officers were trying to execute a warrant related to the child’s homeschooling prior to the incident, police said.

A police statement identifies the victims as a 40-year-old man, his 41-year-old wife, her twin sister, and the couple’s 8-year-old daughter. The couple’s 15-year-old son suffered serious injuries.

The authorities have opened an investigation to elucidate the “exact circumstances of this tragedy”, indicated the police, which specifies that nobody else was in the apartment at the time of the facts.

The Swiss press reports that the five victims jumped into the void, but a spokesman for the regional police was unable to confirm the information.

The victims were found around 7 a.m. local time outside a building near the famous Barrière casino.

The police statement reveals that two officers knocked on the door of the apartment and identified themselves.

“Unable to make contact with the possible occupants, they left,” police said. Meanwhile, a witness called the police to say people had fallen from an apartment balcony. »
