Bombings and fighting
On Wednesday, four people were injured in bombings of buildings in Kyiv. A strike in the parking lot of a shopping center also left one dead and two injured, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The capital remains an objective of the Russian army, but the Ukrainian counter-offensives have forced it to retreat in recent days on several fronts, said the mayor.

Number of people still in Mariupol, surviving “in inhuman conditions”, according to the Ukrainian president on Tuesday. “We are trying to organize stable humanitarian corridors for the people of Mariupol, but almost all of our attempts, unfortunately, are foiled by the Russian occupiers, by bombardment or deliberate terror,” he said.

Number of people who have fled Ukraine since February 24, according to the UN count released on Wednesday. A total of ten million people, around a quarter of the country’s population, have been forced from their homes.
