“18 days to convince”, a support meeting for Emmanuel Macron in Nice

The Azureans only saw Emmanuel Macron on a giant screen this Wednesday, March 23 during his political meeting in Nice. About 2,000 people were present in the audience (3,000 according to the campaign team). The President-candidate addressed them in a pre-recorded video of a few minutes. “I would have liked to be with you this evening but I am on the path which must lead me to the summit of NATO, the G7 and the European Union”, he said facing the camera. It was therefore his ministers and former ministers who took over on the stage of the Palais Nikaia.

Olivier Veranthe Minister of Health and Solidarity, Roseline Bachelot to culture but also Christopher Castanerformer Minister of the Interior took turns at the microphone to defend Emmanuel Macron’s record and present his proposals. Edward Philipits former Prime Minister and founder of the party “Horizons” did the wearing “of an ambitious man” but also called for the majority “not to take refuge behind the polls […] whose predictive value is nil.”

Several former members of the Les Républicains party

The mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi (former pontiff Les Républicains) also took the floor and urged the people of Nice to vote for Emmanuel Macron. “18 days to convince” he chanted. “Is our program left or right? I don’t care” declared alongside him the Minister of Health, thus taking up a basic ingredient of Macronie: the overcoming traditional political parties.

This Wednesday evening we also heard several times the name of Renaud Muselier, president of the PACA region, finally absent because sick. But the most noticeable absence is still that of Emmanuel Macron. “I was very surprised that he did not come and I would have liked him to be present. VSI missed him, even though I came to support him anyway”says Sandrine, a Niçoise, even if other activists do not share this opinion. “I found the atmosphere boosted. For a weeknight, it’s not bad”, says Frederic. Like others, he will respond to Edouard Philippe’s call to campaign in the Alpes Maritimes and the rest of France before the first round in 18 days.
