Yvan Colonna died on Monday March 21 after three weeks in a coma. Journalist Alexandra Lay is live from Ajaccio, in Corse-du-Sud.
“Behind me, there are only a few people left in front of the Ajaccio prefecture. They were up to a hundred high school students, the vast majority of students a few hours ago. All are dressed in black as a sign of mourning, they also sing, they say, in homage to Yvan Colonna, and they even hung a banner ‘Yvan martyr of the Corsican cause’, on the gates of this prefecture”reports Alexandra Lay, live from Ajaccio (Corse-du-Sud).
Schools on the island are all closed. They were blocked very early, Tuesday March 22, “by the students themselves, and at 6 p.m., vigils are organized all over the island, in front of the churches, once again to reflect”, says the journalist. The aggression of Yvan Colonna on March 2 had provoked a wave of anger and demonstrations. “The time now seems to meditation, says Alexandra Layeven if the authorities here remain extremely vigilant”she concludes.
