Sad news at the start of the week. This Tuesday, March 22, 2022, our colleagues from Purepeople confirmed the death of Pierre Papadiamandis. The musician died at the age of 85 in a Paris hospital.
A native of Paris, he has collaborated with the greatest singers during his career. In particular Michel Delpech, Celine Dion without forgetting Eddy Mitchell. Together, the duo has composed no less than 250 pieces of music. As “The Last Session”, “Water Mint Color” or “Elephant Graveyard”.
It was in the 1960s that everything accelerated for the two men. People are passionate about music “Always a corner that reminds me”. Others will follow like “I forgot to forget it” to name but a few. Eddy Mitchell and Pierre Papadiamandis enjoy working together.
For 50 years as specified Nostalgia, the two stars unleash passions with their projects. In 2006, Muriel Bailleul’s husband hits hard with his record Jambalaya recorded in Los Angeles. Opus in which he shares a Johnny Hallyday duet: “We want legends”. In 2021, do it again! Eddy Mitchell calls on Pierre Papadiamandis for his 39ᵉ opus baptized Country Club.
“I didn’t work only with him, of course, but I never considered an album without him. We always want and need to work. It boosts us, we do not see the time passing. Without Pierre, I would never have made this career […]”, confessed the godfather of Laura Smet in the columns of Parisian last year. “Pierre’s thing is slow songs. And he’s an extremely perfectionist, always looking for the perfect piece.”
In good and bad times, the singer has always been able to count on his partner. “Pierre is my brother. His wife, Anouk, is godmother to my eldest daughter, Maryline. We have always helped each other in difficult times, like my divorce. We have never had a shouting match,” confessed Eddy Mitchell. All in all, a beautiful friendship!
