In Aveizieux, in the Loire, a town had no bakery for five years. Volunteers have decided to hold a bread depot in order to bring life back to their commune.

Every morning in Aveizieux (Loire), the baker from a neighboring town comes to deliver his bread and pastries. For five years, the village no longer has a bakery, the nearest being located about ten minutes by car. To maintain a bread depot, a municipal councilor launched a call for volunteers. In two weeks, about thirty volunteers responded. “It’s solidarity that is born, I find that it brings the village back to life“, enthuses Odette Charretier, municipal councilor in Aveizieux (Loire), at the origin of the project.

Every day, the volunteers will take turns at the point of sale. “You have to look at all the prices, there are different breads”, comments Martine Montagnon, volunteer saleswoman who is starting out at the depot and is happy with the experience. “It’s a very good initiative, it brings a little life back to the village”notes a happy customer.
