transcranial magnetic stimulation, a new pain relief therapy

“My life has completely changed, I’m moving forward“, says Laura Huguet, a patient suffering from neuropathic pain. Two years ago, she could no longer walk because she was in so much pain. Laura Huguet had to take several medications a day, including morphine. She started magnetic stimulation therapy transcranial surgery which reduced his pain by half.

The sessions willcreate a very powerful magnetic field, which will enter the brain in a very focal way, to target a particular region of the brain (…) to control pain”, explains Didier Bouhasira, neurologist at the Ambroise-Paré hospital and research director at Inserm. In France, only 4 pain centers are equipped with this machine, which reduces pain by 50% for half of the patients.
