Covid-19 officially claims two new victims

It is in the province of Jilin in northeastern China that the authorities have officially recorded two deaths linked to Covid-19. In this city, as everywhere in the country, health measures have been reinforced since the beginning of the month, and millions of people are once again confined. More than 4,000 cases are recorded every day, but there would certainly be many more. “The Omicron variant, in particular the BA.2 sub-branch, is more transmissible and more difficult to detect”, said Wang Hesheng, Chinese Vice Minister of National Health Communication. In Jillin province, eight temporary hospitals and quarantine centers have been built. An atmosphere reminiscent of images from two years ago, when the epidemic first spread to the Middle Kingdom, before spreading across the entire planet.
