“I would have liked Jean-Pierre Pernaut to be on the jury for ‘What will be the best folk dance in France?'”

250 people gathered on the stage of the Royal Palace of Kirrwiller, in Alsace: it is a great spectacle that France 3 offers with this competition called The great regional competition: what will be the best folk dance in France?, hosted by Cyril Féraud. Ten troops, from mainland France and overseas, are in the running, dressed in their regional costumes. They will be decided by a jury composed of the former Miss France Mareva Galanter, the singer Vincent Niclo, the sports journalist Laurent Luyat and the flea market Caroline Margeridon.

To those who judge this show corny without even having seen it, host Cyril Féraud replies: Look at this evening: we are in a grandiose spectacle. Folk dance can be young, modern, dusted off. Even if they are traditional dances inherited from grandparents.”

“The steps have been transformed, some are extremely sporty, for example the Landais who dance perched on stilts. And the dancers are around thirty years old on average.”

The opportunity for them to show their culture, their traditions in front of millions of viewers: “They all said to themselves that they were lucky to be on prime time on a big channel when no one ever talked about them, and the only one to do so was Jean-Pierre Pernaut in its 1 p.m.continues Cyril Féraud. I would have loved him to be on our jury.”

This evening is the secondspin-off from the Grand regional competition. The first was devoted to gastronomy: “Nothing is done for the next themes, assures Cyril Féraud. I would love for us to do the big choir competition.”

Cyril Féraud, whom Michel Drucker sees as his potential successor, has become in a few years a flagship host of France Télévisions. He presents Slam, The Champions Quiz, The Treasure Map (which will return this summer with unpublished works), the Interceltic Festival of Lorient. Without forgetting his character of Cyril Gossbo in Fort Boyard, that it is however not certain to resume this year: “I want to do it again, the production too, says Cyril Féraud. Corn Fort Boyard turns at the same time The Treasure Map. We’re trying to see how I can manage to teleport!”
