“Big Panda and Little Dragon” by James Norbury

This is a literary UFO of pure beauty that I have chosen to present to you today. It is “Big panda and Little dragon” by James Norbury, a Welshman who writes and draws. He is a real nature enthusiast and he gives a lot of time to associations for victims of depression.

He had projects that were refused by publishers but he persisted and published social media drawings. Unexpected success, he is now followed by 140,000 people and of course he was offered to publish. This is how “Big Panda and Little Dragon” was born, the story of two friends who make a long journey through nature to the rhythm of the seasons. They will be discouraged, take the wrong paths, overcome difficulties and savor simple pleasures. In short, they learn to live in the present moment.

The drawings are sublime, some seem to be done in Indian ink, others are in color. This story is inspired by Buddhist philosophy and spirituality. There are many “mantras” that can help those who one day feel lost. I give you an example. We are in autumn. In the illustration, Big panda carries little dragon on his back, this one has a lantern at the end of a stick which diffuses a little light, it is night and they are heading towards a cave to shelter them. The legend is as follows: “When you light a lantern for someone, you light up your own path at the same time. This marvel is available from the lotus and the little elephant editions.

If you like the genre, I also recommend Changing Sky by Pascal Senk. These are small poems called Haikus where here the author spends not a season but a day until night by our side, 12 chapters, a poetic meditation over the hours. We will thus contemplate everyday life differently, with a poetic soul. Another invitation to enjoy the present moment. Come on, I’ll give you one to finish: “Heart of dawn, the cries of a seagull, iodize my dreams”.
