Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner will not return to action in the “near future” with a lower-body injury and his season could be over.

At least that’s what the Daily Faceoff site said on Thursday. The goalkeeper is said to be struggling with a broken kneecap.

Asked about Lehner’s injury, but also those of Max Pacioretty and Reilly Smith, head coach Peter DeBoer did not give details. But he was not very reassuring.

“Some will skate, see how it goes and the situation could be reassessed from one week to another, or from one day to another,” he said at a press conference.

“There are so many reversals in some of these cases,” he added. Let’s put it this way: they’re not on my radar for [jeudi] evening, nor probably in the near future.”

The 30-year-old Lehner has had to miss a few games this season due to various injuries. He went 21-15-1 with a 2.77 goals-against average and .909 save percentage in 38 games this season.

The Swede must still spend three seasons on his pact of five years and $ 25 million. In his absence, Laurent Brossoit and Logan Thompson are the options in net.
