An 18-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by two teenagers in a hall at the Cinéma Guzzo in Terrebonne, Lanaudière, on Saturday evening.
The young adult had met one of the young people a week earlier on the internet. Both decide to meet in person at the cinema.
The 16-year-old teenager shows up at the Chemin du Coteau cinema with one of his 17-year-old friends. The trio decides to settle down at the back of the room, isolated from the twenty or so spectators present.
Young people drink alcohol. The young woman becomes drowsy and the two teenagers would have taken the opportunity to sexually assault her.
Spectators disturbed by what was happening in the room warn employees. They join the police.
Terrebonne police officers arrest the two young men on the spot and find that the alleged victim is not in normal condition.
“She was practically unconscious. The police called the paramedics. […] This is the first time that a situation like this has occurred in a public place,” said Joël Lamarche, spokesperson for the Terrebonne police.
The ongoing investigation will aim to determine if the young woman was drugged without her knowledge.
The two young suspects were released on a promise to appear. Their file was submitted to the DPCP. They could face sexual assault charges.
