Sebastian Vettel tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday March 17. The German Aston Martin driver will thus miss the start of the season, the first Grand Prix of which will take place on the Bahrain circuit on Sunday March 20. His team therefore called Nico Hulkenberg to replace him, as announced by the British firm in a press release.

Since pre-season testing last week, also in Bahrain, Vettel is the second driver to test positive, after Australian Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren), who is cured and will therefore be able to participate in the GP.

Since the start of the pandemic in 2020, Mexican Sergio Pérez, Canadian Lance Stroll, Briton Lewis Hamilton, Finn Kimi Räikkönen and Russian Nikita Mazepin, as well as team leaders, have tested positive and missed GP.
