Customers have signed a contract to supply themselves with gas at a fixed price for two years. The company encourages them to break their contract in the face of rising prices. A class action is brought by an association to defend these consumers.
Nadine Blanchard is a customer of Cdiscount energies, she is promised a fixed price for two years for her heating. The price is attractive, she barely pays 33 euros per month. The rise in the price of gas pushes the company to ask its client to switch to the competition. The only problem for the consumer? The cheapest price from the competition is at least doubled compared to what it currently costs. So to convince her, we offer her a compensation check if she agrees to break her contract.
From 50, the company went to 100 euros to compensate its customers. Nadine Blanchard received several calls to this effect in just a few days. A consumer association decided to sue the company for customers who agreed to break their contract. Thus, the association Consumption, Housing and Living Environment (CLCV) is bringing a class action against Cdiscount Energies. In France, 30,000 people have subscribed to this offer according to the CLCV, and half have broken their contract.
