130 police officers from the CRS 8 company known as “rapid action”, specializing in urban riots, are deployed this week in Corsica, reports France Bleu RCFM on Tuesday March 15, citing police sources, after the clashes in Bastia on Sunday which left 93 injured including 70 among the police, according to a latest report.

Six investigations are opened by the Bastia public prosecutor’s office after the clashes on Sunday for “damage by means of fire”, “aggravated degradation” after the fire of the building of the Public Finances, for “violence on agents depositaries of the authority public”, or for “destruction by explosive device in an organized gang” after the explosion of the front of a post office. Another investigation concerns the discovery of 350 to 400 molotov cocktails on Sunday in the parking lot of the station. The investigations are entrusted to the judicial police.
During the clashes on Sunday, the CRS fired 3,000 tear gas, out of a stock of 10,000, according to a police source. The police also fired around twenty LBDs and around thirty de-encirclement grenades at the demonstrators. The rioters threw, according to the police, 650 molotov cocktails, as well as explosive petanque balls. A protester arrested on Sunday was still Monday evening in police custody.
The minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin, goes to the island Wednesday for “open” a “discussion cycle” with “all elected officials and living forces”.
