A highly anticipated compact since the unveiling of its prototype last November, the Acura Integra was finally unveiled last week as it will be produced. The compact, an icon of the 1990s, returns to the Canadian market after a hiatus of 21 long years by obeying a known formula and parallel to the Civic.

Its dress seems less divisive and more balanced than the prototype unveiled a few months ago which sported a particularly incisive canary yellow.

Pending the arrival of a more powerful version called Type S, this Integra ensures its introduction by a mechanism shared with the Honda Civic Si. It is therefore to a small four-cylinder 1.5 L turbocharged 200 hp that falls on the task of ensuring the drive, also obtained from a torque curve that begins at just 1800 rpm for 192 lb-ft.

The interior of the 2023 Acura Integra has a layout very similar to that of the last generation of the Honda Civic.

Two boxes are on the menu, a six-speed manual, reserved for the most opulent livery of the Integra, and the other continuously variable, which is offered as standard. The latter is undoubtedly a disappointment in the perspective of a slightly more dynamic and luxurious positioning compared to the Civic, its platform cousin. In addition, Acura has very competent automatic transmissions in its parts bank.

The 2023 Acura Integra will not be entitled to all-wheel drive.

Contrary to some rumors that have circulated in recent weeks, the compact will not be entitled to all-wheel drive, preferring to preserve the two front drive wheels. A limited-slip differential is used only on the manual versions in order to properly distribute the torque between the two front wheels.

The continuously variable gearbox is standard.

To stand out from its more “proletarian” cousin, the Integra will also offer adaptive damping, an option that you can only benefit from, again, if you opt for the most expensive variant. On this front, Acura reiterated that its price range will start around $35,000.

The 2023 Acura Integra will be available on the Canadian market in the spring.
