Lawson Crouse had a hat trick and Nick Schmaltz scored the game-winning goal at 7:46 in the third period on Monday as the Arizona Coyotes defeated the Ottawa Senators 5-3.

Crouse scored at even strength, overhand and underhand.

The 24-year-old Ontarian completed his hat-trick in the middle period, after a breakaway.

It was a first National League hat trick for Crouse, a former Kingston Frontenacs player.

Schmaltz has six goals and 15 points in his last six games.

Barrett Hayton scored the last goal into an empty net.

Scott Wedgewood made 40 saves for Arizona, which prevailed with just 14 shots.

Josh Norris provided a brace and Connor Brown also scored for the Senators, who have lost their last two games.

Filip Gustavsson stopped 10 shots.

Ottawa will also host Columbus and Philadelphia before visiting the Canadiens on Saturday.
