The property has been closed since March 2019 due to major works. Initially, these were to stretch over two years. They will have finally lasted three years.

Resulting from an international architectural competition, it will be the first museum in North America that will allow the observation of as many species of living insects (some of which are free) and naturalized, indicates a press release from Espace pour la vie, the museum complex in the Olympic district, which includes the Biodôme, the Biosphere, the Botanical Garden, the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium and the Insectarium.

Tickets at fixed times are available online at espacepourlavie.ca/billetterie. Fares range from $0 (child 4 and under) to $17 (adult).

The pandemic, which led to a temporary closure of construction sites, as well as a shortage of building materials, is responsible for the delays for the Insectarium, reported The Press in January.
