Impossible to miss the large cracked building when you are at the gate of the Précieux school. Victim of a drought episode in October 2018, it is surrounded by metal cables. “There was the director’s office, a computer room, today it’s condemned”, explains My-Linh Lam, mother of Jules in CP and parents’ delegate.
The town hall quickly did work to secure the premises, it installed barriers around the weakened building, which restricts the space for playing during recess. An adjoining classroom was also made inaccessible. The motricity room is now used to accommodate students.
A situation that many parents thought was temporary, for a few months. But for more than three years, “nothing moves”, regrets Tiffany Audrain, another delegate mother.
Approximately €600,000 in expected compensation
The mayor of Précieux ensures that elected officials have been mobilized since the declaration of the state of natural disaster at the end of June 2019 to take the necessary steps for insurance compensation. It’s the ping-pong of experts that takes too much time for Monique Hay.
There have been numerous appraisals, second appraisals and re-appraisals, numerous visits by architects, in particular from the Bâtiments de France. But the file for us is practically finished.
Monique Hay ensures that the compensation will arrive in the next few weeks. Rehabilitation work on the building could take place this summer, during the school holidays.
