In Lviv, residents are preparing for the worst. Entire walls of sandbags protect strategic buildings and bunkers dating from the last century have been cleared. The national museum also sheltered his works.

Everywhere, sandbags, anti-tank harrows and camouflage nets: in Lviv (Ukraine), the checkpoints set up at the entrances to the city are well guarded. The police officers who hold them refuse to allow them to be filmed and increase the number of checks. Warning sirens now sound every day in the city, prompting residents to rush into cellars, underground restaurants or bunkers, which have sometimes existed since the last century.

Built during the Second World War, they were “cleaned and fitted out”, says journalist Anne-Sophie Lapix. Official buildings are protected by sack walls. Every window at street level is obstructed. The city, whose center is listed as a UNESCO heritage site, has protected its treasures. The four statues of the town hall square representing Roman deities have been covered, covered with foam and fireproof fabric. The national museum has also sheltered its 4,000 icons.
