“Wow, no, no, you’re confusing it!”, Valérie Pecresse stops Anne-Claire Coudray on the subject of refugees!

Eight of the twelve candidates running in the presidential elections were in France Facing War on TF1. Among them, Valérie Pecresse who took over from Marine Le Pen ahead of Anne-Claire Coudray and Gilles Bouleau. In particular, she answered questions about the war in Ukraine. Moreover, the journalist asked him a question concerning the Ukrainian refugees. “We are already at more than 2.5 million people who have left their country. You would prefer that this reception of refugees be done, I quote, ‘in neighboring countries’…”

The politician cut him off for him “Oh no no, absolutely not”. “Yes, you said it”persisted the presenter. “You confuse with Eric Zemmour”replied the Republican candidate. “You asked that candidates for exile justify their status. What do you say to that?”, asked his interlocutor.

“I have no idea where you got that from. I immediately said that in accordance with France’s tradition of asylum that, as for all persecuted peoples, Ukrainians can be welcomed in France. As president of the region, I set up places to welcome them. But what I said was that two things had to be done. We must also help neighboring countries to welcome them because they were going to be the first concerned. But I think that we must welcome Ukrainians, not foreigners passing through Ukraine”.

She was questioned, like all her competitors for the presidency, on the legal retirement age. “I think Emmanuel Macron listened to my program and I’m happy about it. But it’s the same on many subjects. Yes, you have to tell the French the truth, you’ll have to work until you’re 65, except when we started early and we had a hard job”did she say. “It is essential to make reforms (…) Not a single retiree will retire with less than a net minimum wage. We are reforming pensions to finance the purchasing power of retirees”. Valérie Pecresse does not want to increase taxes but on the contrary to lower them.
