Laurent Dubreuil was crowned 500m champion on Sunday after finishing the second and final 500m event in fourth place at the Long Track Speed Skating World Cup Finals in Heerenveen, Netherlands.

The day before, Dubreuil had taken second place.
He finished at the top of the season standings with 614 points, 28 more than Japan’s Tatsuya Shinhama, winner of the weekend’s two races.
On Sunday, Shinhama needed 34.487s to cover the distance, ahead of Poland’s Piotr Michalski (34.618) and Japan’s Wataru Morishige (34.634).
Dubreuil meanwhile stopped the clock in 34.636.
