The Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire called on the French to make an effort on their energy consumption, to cope with rising prices. Reduce the temperature of its thermostat by 1°C : it is one of the ten proposals made by the International Energy Agency. Some French people have already taken this recommendation literally.

Philippe, a resident of Montpellier (Herault) decided to lower its gas heating to 17°C. For him, it is a gesture of solidarity with the Ukrainians. According to calculations by the International Energy Agency, a drop of 1°C the temperature in all the buildings could cause a drop of 7% imports of Russian gas into Europe. An effort that also saves money: 15% less on Philippe’s bill.

The French arethey ready to make this effort? Those crossed on the morning of Friday March 11 have already begun. For Philip Chalminan expert on the subject, the crisis has only just begun. Without being decisive, consumer behavior will have a role to play. In addition to the government, consumer associations are already calling on the French to adopt the right reflexes.
