Raïf Badawi was released after 10 years in prison, says his wife, Ensaf Haidar, who lives in Sherbrooke with their three children.
Amnesty International has confirmed the information to Homework.
The blogger was imprisoned in 2012 and sentenced in 2014 to ten years in prison, a thousand lashes and a fine of one million Saudi riyals for criticizing Saudi Arabia’s religious authorities. He received fifty lashes in January 2015 during a public flogging, but has reportedly not been whipped since.
