Half of the inhabitants of Kiev (Ukraine) fled the city, that is to say about 2 million people. In some neighborhoods, the streets are deserted, Friday, March 11. But some inhabitants, who did not want or who could not leave, try to survive in spite of everything.

In the city of Kiev (Ukraine), at war, the town hall broadcasts the anthem of the city. Kiev is as if asleep, the shops closed and the tourist buses parked in silence. In the streets, there are few cars and passers-by. “There is a bus every hour or even every two hours”says a passerby. In each neighborhood, a convenience store is still open, but the shelves are increasingly empty. “I wanted fresh meat to cook a little”says a Ukrainian woman, but she won’t find any.

There is no shortage of coffee, tea, biscuits and preserves, but the trucks no longer reach Kiev. “We are not delivered any goods, nothing at all”reports the cashier of the store. It will therefore be necessary to rely on stocks. In town, the Post Office opens a few hours a day for retirees who need to withdraw their pension. Medical offices have closed.
