anger and tension are still high in Corsica

After the attack on Yvan Colonna in prison a week ago, the Corsican demonstrators are waiting for answers. The tension went up a notch again, Thursday, March 10, in front of the sub-prefecture of Bastia (Haute-Corse) where CRS received stone throwing. In Ajaccio (Corse-du-Sud) hundreds of high school students gathered in front of the prefecture. Marie-Antoinette Maupertuis, president of the Assembly of Corsica, spoke of a peaceful gathering and asks the state to understand the youth.

On the night of Wednesday March 9 to Thursday March 10, the first floor of the Ajaccio courthouse was set on fire by demonstrators, armed with Molotov cocktails. The city prosecutor, Nicolas Septe, calls for a return to calm. Among the five in custody is a 15-year-old minor. Student unions and nationalists are launching a new call to demonstrate on Sunday March 13.
