  • Russian tanks arrived at the northeast edge of Ukraine’s capital Kyiv on Thursday.
  • Moscow announced that humanitarian corridors were being set up to allow Ukrainians to flee to Russia.
  • The war also continues on the information front. Russian authorities have denied attacking Mariupol and called the strike on a hospital “staged”.
  • The economic consequences of the conflict are felt all over the world. The International Monetary Fund has announced that it will lower its global growth forecast due to the war in Ukraine.
  • The European Central Bank lowered its growth forecast and revised its inflation forecast upwards.
  • In the United States, consumer prices, at their highest since 1982, have reached a new record, partly due to gasoline prices.
  • The war could have serious consequences in a context of climate emergency. The G7 countries on Thursday asked gas and oil producing countries to increase their deliveries to cope with rising energy prices and the risk of shortages.
  • Canada will match up to $30 million in donations made to the Red Cross to help Ukrainians, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced during his visit to Poland.
