The induction of the prolific singer from British Columbia will take place on September 24 at Massey Hall in Toronto, during the first live PACC gala since 2019 – the last two events had to be held virtually in due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The bilingual show will pay tribute not only to Adams, but also to his close collaborator Jim Vallance — the two men met by chance in a Vancouver music store in the early 80s.

“The musical partnership between Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance is one of the most prolific in Canadian rock history,” said Stan Meissner, Chairman of the PACC Board of Directors. We are very happy to honor them separately for their incredible talent and craft as songwriters. »

The work of the two musicians began with the album Cuts Like a Knifereleased in 1983, which imposed itself in particular with the pieces straight from the heart and This Time, which earned Bryan Adams JUNO Awards for Best Male Performer and Songwriter of the Year (with Vallance). The next album, Recklessproved even more popular, reaching the top of the US and Canadian charts thanks to the timeless hits it became Heaven, Run to You and Summer of ’69.

While Adams continued to chain successes on the radio and on the stage, Vallance also put his talent at the service of renowned performers such as Bonnie Rait, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, Anne Murray, or Joan Jett.

Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance reunited in 2018 to write the music and lyrics for Pretty Woman: The Musical, a show that reached new heights on Broadway. Adams also intends to include his own versions of songs from the musical in his next world tour, which will begin soon in support of his 15and album So Happy It Hurtswhich is scheduled for release this Friday, March 11.

Gala details and a list of other artists inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame will be announced in the coming months.
