For 2022, Mitsubishi is launching an all-new generation of its Outlander SUV.
In addition, the Japanese brand still markets its plug-in hybrid version under the old iteration. We will have to wait a little longer before getting the next PHEV 2023 model.
From an aesthetic point of view, “it’s clear [que] the design of the Outlander is quite polarizing”, believes the columnist of the Car Guide Antoine Joubert. He goes on to explain that the SUV is inspired by the GT-PHEV Concept prototype, presented in 2016.
On the road, the reviewer notes a series of improvements over the previous model. ” [C’est] a more refined, more comfortable and quieter vehicle than in the past,” he says.
The Outlander shares several mechanical elements with the Nissan Rogue. In this sense, it equips a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 181 horsepower and 181 lb-ft. The utility combines the CVT gearbox and the S-AWC all-wheel drive.
During his test, Antoine obtained a rating of 8.5 L/100 km, while Natural Resources Canada announces an average consumption of 8.9 L/100 km.
“It’s not the most inspiring drive. The steering could be more precise and communicative. [Mais] it is stronger than in the past,” he says. In addition, the vehicle can accommodate seven passengers and tow up to 2,000 pounds.
On board, some aesthetic elements are directly borrowed from the Rogue, for example the gear lever and part of the center console. Antoine emphasizes the successful presentation, the quality of the materials and the comfort of the seats.
