Nathan Bastian scored a power-play goal with less than seven minutes left in the game to give the New Jersey Devils the lead, who erased a three-goal deficit to win 5-3 against the Colorado Avalanche , Tuesday.

Tomas Tatar, Ty Smith, Damon Severson and Yegor Sharangovich also scored for the Devils. Nico Daws made 23 saves for the Devils, who managed the biggest comeback at the expense of the NHL leader.

Jesper Bratt helped with three goals while Jack Hughes had two assists. Both blacked out the scoresheet on Bastian’s goal.

Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen and Cale Makar rattled the ropes for the Avalanche, who were 23-0 this season after leading in the first period.

Darcy Kuemper stopped 38 shots in the loss.

Carter Hart set a career-high 47 saves on Tuesday, helping the Philadelphia Flyers win 2-1 over the Vegas Golden Knights.

Oskar Lindblom and Justin Braun had the goals for the Flyers.

It was the first time in over a month that the club had earned a second win in a row. Scott Laughton was instrumental in two goals.

The Flyers ended a long stay at home with a 3-5 record.

Evgenii Dadonov collected the goal for the Knights, who were looking for a third straight victory. Robin Lehner stopped 19 shots for the Golden Knights, who were beginning a five-game road trip.

The Panthers have the upper hand over the Penguins

Anthony Duclair scored the game-winning goal in the second period, then Carter Verhaeghe scored the insurance net in the third period and the Florida Panthers beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 on Tuesday.

Duclair and Verheaghe each tied their highest scoring tally in a season. The Quebecer hit the mark for the 23and times of the season while Verhaeghe achieved his 18and success of this campaign.

Sam Reinhart and Aaron Ekblad also hit the mark for the Panthers, who have won their last four games.

Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 32 shots in the win.

Sidney Crosby scored to extend his game-goal streak to seven. Jake Guentzel and Bryan Rust also flashed the red light for the Penguins. Tristan Jarry made 25 saves.

Matthews scores hat trick in Maple Leafs win

Auston Matthews scored a hat trick and the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Seattle Kraken 6-4 on Tuesday.

Leader of the circuit with 43 goals, Matthews scored a third hat-trick this season.

Mitch Marner, William Nylander and John Tavares also scored for Toronto, which benefited from 26 saves from Jack Campbell.

Marner has scored at least one point in eight straight games. TJ Brodie and Michael Bunting had two assists each.

Colin Blackwell, Carson Soucy, Alex Wennberg and Jaden Schwartz offered the Kraken replica. Philipp Grubauer blocked 25 shots.

The Kraken will play in Ottawa on Thursday and in Montreal on Saturday. Seattle is led by a former Maple Leafs assistant, Dave Hakstol.

Coyotes easily beat Red Wings 9-2

Nick Schmaltz picked up where he left off after his seven-point performance to register two goals and two assists as the Arizona Coyotes smashed the Detroit Red Wings 9-2 on Tuesday.

Schmaltz had two goals and five assists in an 8-5 win over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. His 11 points in two games is a team record.

Jakob Chychrun and Nick Ritchie both hit the target twice and had an assist.

Barrett Hayton had four assists for the Coyotes, who won three straight games for the first time this season.

Travis Boyd, Christian Fischer and Clayton Keller also scored for the Coyotes. Karel Vejmelka made 26 saves for the win.

Jakub Vrana of the Red Wings rocked the ropes in his first game of the season. He’s been sidelined since training camp due to shoulder surgery.

Robby Fabbri also scored for the Red Wings, who have lost five of their last six games. Alex Nedeljkovic blocked 20 shots.

The Senators return to winning ways

Tim Stutzle and Josh Norris scored on the power play on Tuesday, guiding the Ottawa Senators to a 4-1 win over the St. Louis Blues.

Norris reached the milestone of 20 nets.

Brady Tkachuk and Alex Formenton completed for the Senators, who had lost their last five games.

Anton Forsberg was only beaten by David Perron, making 20 saves.

St. Louis is going through a rough patch with a four-game 0-3-1 record.

The Blues did not help their cause by shooting only three times in the second period.

The club have allowed the first goal five times in six games, including Tuesday.

Rangers lose 5-2 to Wild

Kevin Fiala hit the target twice in the second period to help the Minnesota Wild distance themselves, Marcus Foligno scored a goal and had two assists in a valuable 5-2 win over the New York Rangers on Tuesday .

Ryan Hartman and Joel Eriksson Ek also scored for the Wild, who won just their third game in their last 11. Cam Talbot stopped 23 shots in the win.

Dryden Hunt and Mika Zibanejad scored for Rangers, who saw their three-game winning streak come to an end.

However, Gerard Gallant’s squad have posted an 8-3-1 record in their last 12 games.

Alexander Georgiev stopped 23 of the 28 shots he faced.

Jets beat Lightning 7-4

Paul Stastny scored his second brace in three games as the Winnipeg Jets prevailed 7-4 against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday.

Mark Scheifele went there with one goal and three assists for the Jets, who had lost their last two games.

Josh Morrissey, Kyle Connor, Pierre-Luc Dubois and Adam Lowry also scored for the Jets.

Russ Colton, Victor Hedman, Alex Killorn and Ryan McDonagh scored the goals for the Lightning.

Connor Hellebuyck stopped 20 shots in a winning cause. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 28 saves.

The Jets will play their next three games on the road. Tampa Bay will prepare to face the Flames on Thursday in Calgary.

The formal puck drop was made by Manitoba’s Jocelyne Larocque, who helped win women’s hockey gold in Beijing.

Ducks lose 8-3 to Blackhawks

Patrick Kane had one goal and five assists for a career-high six points as the Chicago Blackhawks edged the Anaheim Ducks 8-3 on Tuesday.

Playing on the same line as Kane, Dylan Strome scored a hat trick and added an assist. Their other companion, Alex DeBrincat ended his evening with a goal and three assists.

Jonathan Toews, Brandon Hagel and Ryan Carpenter also scored for the Blackhawks.

Trevor Zegras, Jakob Silfverberg and Adam Henrique rocked the ropes for the Ducks. Sam Steel had two assists.

John Gibson stopped eight of the 13 shots he faced before being relieved of his duties. Anthony Stolarz made 16 relief saves.
