Tatiana is from Kharkov this town in northeastern Ukraine under the bombs, she lives in Corsica and has taken in her own family who were staying in Bastia before the war broke out: “It’s psychologically hard for all of us, for example my nephew who is 26 years old is angry with himself for staying here and not being able to return to Ukraine to fight too. Women must leave the country with their children but many of them do not want to leave their husbands who are fighting. And then a lot of women are afraid to move around, it’s very dangerous to try to reach the Polish border.” Explains Tatiana who thanks the Corsicans who have set up reception structures for refugees from Ukraine.
“Several families will be welcomed in Corsica in the coming days and this is already the case with a family welcomed this week in Bastia. It is a woman with her children housed in an apartment in the Agliani district of Bastia thanks to an individual. Municipalities, let us quote Ghisonaccia, Calacuccia, individuals from all over the island have come forward and are offering accommodation. On this day of March 8, of course, this has a special meaning: these women are courageous, the Ukrainian women who arrive impress us with their determination despite the distress.” highlighted Marie-Anne Acquaviva of the LDH on Bastiathe city is very involved and centralizes accommodation proposals.
