Jeep | An image of the first electric model

The irresistible electric wave is breaking even at Jeep, as the manufacturer prepares to adapt to new electrification standards. For several years rumors had pointed to the Wrangler being the successful candidate to ensure this incursion. After all, it’s the 4×4 brand ambassador and it’s already offered with a plug-in hybrid package. However, Jeep will rather value a more generalist approach.

The American manufacturer will go all-electric with what appears to be a subcompact SUV comparable in size to the Compass model. The first illustration of the creation was released last week at a Stellantis Group press conference. No technical details have been exposed for the moment, but it should logically be based on the new STLA electric chassis from Stellantis in a compact version. This model will thus precede the electric version of the Wrangler by at least a year, if we trust the previous announcements of the European-American group.

Other sketches of the electric Ram

Stellantis has stressed that it wants to become carbon neutral by 2038 and the manufacturer plans to sell 5 million electric vehicles by 2030. It is therefore necessary to target key categories that generate significant sales volumes. Among these are the inevitable vans. However, Ram is still busy developing its response to Ford and Rivian, a pickup truck whose launch is still scheduled for 2024.

To help us wait, new sketches of this electric version of the Ram 1500 have been presented. Difficult once again to paint a complete visual portrait of the model, but there is particular attention paid to the drag coefficient with soft lines. The idea remains to offer as little air resistance as possible and thus increase autonomy. There is also a different design of the headlights and taillight to set it apart from the gasoline versions.
