The company Alimentation Couche-Tard announces Monday the immediate suspension of its activities in Russia and puts in place plans to, it says, take care of its employees.
In a press release, the president and CEO, Brian Hannasch, explains that the multinational based in Laval condemns the aggression of Russia against Ukraine as well as the considerable humanitarian effects on both Ukrainians and Russians.
Alimentation Couche-Tard has stores in Russia where it operates under its global Circle K brand, which has over 320 employees and 38 stores located in St. Petersburg, Murmansk and Pskov.
The company statement adds that since the start of the crisis, local Circle K teams in Poland, the Baltics and across the European network have offered support to refugees by providing them with free fuel, food and beverages, housing, and donations to children’s charities.
Alimentation Couche-Tard operates in 26 countries and territories and has nearly 14,200 stores.
