“Star Académie”: Jérémy, Sandrine and Marily in competition

Jérémy, Sandrine and Marily, the three Academicians in danger, hope that the efforts they have put into work throughout the week will allow them to keep their place at the Waterloo Academy. But one of them will necessarily have to leave the adventure on Sunday evening.

Jérémy Plante approached his third danger with a certain letting go. “It’s different because we are moving forward in the competition, and every little flaw counts, he analyzed. I felt it was going to be my turn. It’s always a stress, but I live it well. It’s been five weeks since the show started, I participated in the medleys, I sang with my idols, it will happen what will happen.

His serenity in the face of Sunday’s verdict did not prevent him from putting double effort into workshops and rehearsals. “The comment that Lara repeated to me is that I sometimes make up my voice to get the little country side, while the teachers would like to hear my real voice. They want to see what I can do with a song that I know well, without disguising my voice. Honestly, it was less of a challenge to get there quickly, I was able to do what they wanted more easily.

Before defending his place on “Footloose”, by Kenny Loggins, Jérémy stored up as many memories as possible of the Academy in case he did not return there on Sunday evening. “I will work as hard as possible, I want to improve before leaving, I want to show the best of me. And above all, I want to make the most of it.”

Weaknesses

Sandrine Hébert has had a rocky week. This second endangerment affected her much more than she would have thought. “At the same time, I’m happy because it will have allowed me to work on several of my weaknesses.”

When evaluated, the reviews were harsh, but fair. “There are a lot of bad things that I’ve accumulated over the years singing in bars, like pushing the notes too much, sometimes singing too loudly, not opening my jaw well, not breathing enough… The teachers also mentioned my accuracy several times. These are points that I want to work on as much as possible so that they are happy with my performance.

Sandrine is now much more aware of her abilities and she just wants to progress further. If the mass of things to work on gave her a certain vertigo at the start, she is much more at peace a few hours from Variety during which she will sing “C’est zero”, by Julie Masse. “I’m approaching this evening with more gentleness, I just see it as a great challenge.”

Tiredness

Marily Dorion expressed her fatigue from the start of the week. “Helping and caring for others is part of my personality and I couldn’t change that way of being,” she said. This week, I chose my battles and it did me a lot of good. I also slept better. In fact, I’ve taken everyone’s tricks, whether it’s washing with lavender soap or putting essential oils on my feet before bed. My sleep has improved.”

The Academician says she is happy to have been put in danger, because she had access to personalized workshops with Gregory Charles and Lara Fabian, as well as constructive comments which help her to move forward.

“As I am a songwriter, I have always played with my guitar. Finding myself on stage without my instrument, there are mannerisms that have taken hold. I have, for example, the habit of packing my microphone quickly, of closing my eyes while singing… These are points on which I have worked quite a lot.

Marily programmed in her head that she was not going to leave after having interpreted “I loved you, I love you, I will love you”, by Francis Cabrel. “It’s a little esoteric, but I know it’s not my turn this week. If I leave, it’s because life is preparing something even better for me.
