Mikhail Sergachev leads the Lightning to victory

Mikhail Sergachev broke the tie in the third period and the Tampa Bay Lightning inflicted a 3-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Friday.

Sergachev hit the mark in the middle of the period, on the power play.

Brayden Point and Steven Stamkos also scored on superiorities.

Detroit has the league’s worst penalty-killing record on the road.

Victor Hedman was instrumental in every goal and Brian Elliott stopped 22 shots.

For the Red Wings, Robby Fabbri scored and Alex Nedeljkovic made 35 saves.

Dylan Larkin was shut out for the first time in 11 games. He had seven goals and 18 points during the streak.

Rangers have the upper hand over the Devils

Igor Shesterkin made 32 saves, Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad each had a goal and an assist and the New York Rangers defeated the New Jersey Devils 3-1 on Friday night.

Filip Chytil also found the back of the net as Rangers won the final two games of their three-game home stint. The New York troops are 6-1-1 in their last eight games at Madison Square Garden.

Nico Hischier scored the Devils’ lone goal as Nico Daws stopped 29 shots. Neighbors New Jersey have lost five of their last seven meetings.

Shesterkin earned his 27th win of the season by resisting an offensive push by the Devils who had a power play in the third period. The Rangers doorman made sure to keep the door tightly closed in front of four Devils shots.

Shesterkin’s brilliance is no stranger to Rangers’ 19-1-3 record when they lead after two periods of play.

Already leading 2-1, the Rangers put the last nail in the coffin of the devils in the middle of the third period when Zibanejad came into the opposing zone before passing the puck to Kreider. The latter fired a one-timer to score his 36th goal of the season and come within two goals of NHL leader Leon Draisatl of the Edmonton Oilers.

Viktor Arvidsson scores hat trick in Kings win

Viktor Arvidsson scored a hat trick at 4:00 in overtime on Friday to help the Los Angeles Kings win 4-3 over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Arvidsson ended the debate on a breakaway, on the backhand. He got his 18th goal of the season.

Dustin Brown scored the other goal for the Kings, who had lost their last two games.

Jonathan Quick has stopped 24 shots for the Kings, victorious in eight of their last 11 meetings.

Patrik Laine, Oliver Bjorkstrand and Justin Danforth fought back for the Blue Jackets. Elvis Merlikins was very busy, making 39 saves.

Zach Werenski returned to action after a four-game absence with an upper-body injury.
