The 24-year-old had taken part in the Sparrows’ training camp in 2021 before returning to play a final season with the Laval University Rouge et Or. A product of the Cégep Limoilou Titans, Robitaille amassed 234 yards on 24 receptions last season. He also carried the ball four times, amassing 23 yards and three majors. The 6′, 190 lb athlete was a member of the Vanier Cup champion squads in 2016 and 2018.
“Mathieu can run, throw or catch a ball, he’s a very versatile player,” Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia said in a statement. He also excelled on special teams during his years in the university ranks, we are happy with this signing.
The Montreal club will begin its regular schedule on June 16 in Calgary, after holding its training camp and playing two exhibition games.
